[My friend] Deb was here for the weekend. We sat up until two a.m. talking after dinner. I told her about Margaret Moorman's book and her saying that it's common for siblings of mentally ill people to put their lives on hold, that they can't begin anything because they have to anticipate what may happen with the sibling. Or maybe this is just my problem and has nothing to do with my sister.

Deb said she always remembered my sister as a princess, as a terribly glamorous person. Beautiful but not only beautiful, she said.

Reading Moorman's book makes me wonder again about joining a support group to discuss care options. When I think about it, though, I feel exhausted, as if it's one more thing on a long to-do list.

Once again, I think hopefully about the possibility of hiring a social worker to check up on her so that she could continue to live independently in that house. Although the house would need some major work.
